What is it about our culture that drives the seemingly endless violence around us? Stop the Madness: A Community Conversation on Our Culture of Violence, will look for answers to this question and explore ways we can begin to change our culture, particularly in how we raise boys into men. The conversation will take place Tuesday, February 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Anderson City Hall.

The event is geared especially for men who are fathers, coaches, community leaders, student leaders, mentors or who play a role the lives of boys or other men.

This event is sponsored and planned by Progressive Women of Anderson, a non-partisan association of politically aware women who seek to raise the level of public discourse on issues affecting Anderson County.

Parts of the film The Mask You Live In will be shown, followed by facilitator-led dialogue and discussion regarding our culture’s definitions of masculinity, how boys and young men struggle to remain true to themselves within these cultural parameters and how men can play a role in preventing and ending violence.
