THE MANUPSTATE PLEDGE

I pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women. I pledge to learn about how I can help to end violence and discrimination against women and girls, and to work towards creating a community where all people are valued and safe.”

September 29, 2015 – Addressing Violence Against Women in Faith Communities

Tuesday, September 29, 11:30am-1:00pm
Hampton Park Baptist Church – Yearick Center (Blue Room)
875 State Park Rd. Greenville, SC

Join us on Tuesday, September 29 from 11:30am-1:00pm at Hampton Park Baptist Church for a roundtable lunch discussion forum for ministers and faith leaders. Table topics will surround the issue of violence against women. Table leaders will ask ministers to share how they think violence against women affects their congregation, how they’ve addressed this issue in the past, what tools or training they feel they may need to understand how to create a culture in their church where victims feel safe and leaders feel equipped to respond effectively, how to engage the men of their congregation to be involved as allies and other related discussion questions. The themes that arise from these table discussions will give us the insight we need to shape a larger event for ministers in 2016.

If you are a minister or faith leader who is interested in taking part in this event, please contact julie.meredith@safeharborsc.org.
